         Refuge Church - formerly Church of the Good Shepherd

Providence - the powerful and practical expression of God's love toward His people for His purposes, His pleasure, and His glory.

Family - the multi-generational, real-life community of people related to one another by their common and genuine belief in Jesus Christ, and who are devoted to God and to what pleases Him.

Baptist - a part of the larger family of God who holds to the inspired and error-free Word of God, the Bible; who views our relationship with Him as of His grace alone, by faith alone, through Jesus Christ alone, to the glory of God alone; and who views baptism by professing believers to be immersion in water as the outward and public expression of a believer's faith.

Church - the local, organized family of believers in Jesus Christ: who love God and one another; who willingly gather together to worship God; who learn more about Him and how to please Him by studying the Bible; who hold one another accountable in following Him; who encourage one another in love and good works; who meet one another's spiritual and material needs; and who share the Gospel with the world.

Our work at Providence Family Baptist Church is to raise up godly generations of believers, ambassadors for the Lord Jesus Christ.

A Little About Us...

We are in agreement with the Reformers' basic theological principles:
   - "Sola Gratia"
           by grace alone;
   - "Sola Fide"
          through faith alone;
   - "Solus Christus"
          in Christ alone
   - "Soli Deo Gloria"
          for the glory of God alone
                 -And-
    - "Sola Scriptura"
          Scripture alone

We believe that God, as the Creator of all things, is sovereign in all things including salvation.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast."  Ephesians 2:8-9
We feel that the 2nd London Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689 is a good summary of our beliefs.

We're conservative, but we work hard at trying to live out the time-honored principles of Christian liberty.

"...with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace."  Ephesians 4:2-3

We use the New American Standard Bible - 1995 Update (NASB) in our services.

We have freedom in the choices we have of how we praise God in our services, and we most often sing the great hymns of the Christian faith - which are all but lost in our modern culture.
